Pressure-Related Wound Care Services

Treatment for Pressure Ulcers and Device-Related Pressure Injuries in Orange County, Los Angeles & Riverside County

Pressure-related wounds develop when prolonged pressure, friction, or medical devices restrict blood flow to the skin. These wounds can worsen quickly without specialized care and are a leading cause of preventable complications in patients with limited mobility.

DermLounge provides advanced pressure-related wound care for patients with pressure ulcers and device-related pressure injuries. Our team delivers consistent, evidence-based treatment through in-clinic visits and mobile bedside care, helping patients heal while reducing the risk of infection, hospitalization, and long-term tissue damage.

What Are Pressure-Related Wounds?

Pressure-related wounds occur when sustained pressure or medical devices damage the skin and underlying tissue. They are most common in patients who are bedridden, wheelchair-dependent, recovering from surgery, or using medical equipment long-term.

These wounds require specialized management to prevent progression and promote healing.

Pressure Ulcers (Decubitus Ulcers / Bedsores)

Pressure ulcers, also known as bedsores or decubitus ulcers, develop when pressure cuts off circulation to the skin. They most often appear on bony areas such as the heels, hips, tailbone, and lower back.

DermLounge treats Stage 1 through Stage 4 pressure ulcers, including:

  • Stage 1: Red or discolored skin that does not blanch
  • Stage 2: Partial-thickness skin loss or blistering
  • Stage 3: Full-thickness skin loss with visible fat
  • Stage 4: Deep tissue damage involving muscle or bone

Early treatment is critical, as pressure ulcers can progress rapidly without consistent wound care.

Device-Related Pressure Injuries

Device-related pressure injuries occur when medical equipment places continuous pressure on the skin. These wounds are often overlooked and can become severe if not addressed early.

We treat pressure injuries caused by:

  • Oxygen tubing or masks
  • Braces and orthotics
  • Catheters and drainage devices
  • Splints, casts, and medical straps

These wounds often develop on the face, ears, neck, limbs, or areas where devices contact the skin.

How DermLounge Treats Pressure-Related Wounds

Our approach focuses on stopping wound progression, promoting healing, and preventing recurrence. Treatment may include:

  • Bedside wound debridement to remove damaged tissue
  • Advanced wound dressings to protect the skin and manage drainage
  • Frequent wound assessment and measurement
  • Coordination with caregivers and facilities to reduce pressure and friction
  • Advanced skin grafting for eligible non-healing wounds
  • Patient and caregiver education to prevent recurrence

Patients are typically seen one to two times per week to ensure consistent progress.

Who Is at Risk for Pressure-Related Wounds?

Patients at higher risk include:

  • Individuals with limited mobility or paralysis
  • Elderly patients
  • Patients recovering from surgery or prolonged illness
  • Residents of skilled nursing or assisted living facilities
  • Patients using long-term medical devices

Mobile bedside wound care helps ensure these patients receive timely treatment without transportation barriers.

Pressure-related wound care services are often fully covered by Medicare and Medi-Cal for qualifying patients. There is no out-of-pocket cost for eligible individuals. Coverage eligibility is determined during the referral and intake process.
